The critical US battleground state of Pennsylvania has just been projected for the Honourable Senator of Illinois Mr. Barack Obama according to the CNN. This is a demoralizing blow to the Honourable Senator Mr. John McCain. Obama’s ground troops, as reported in the previous article Obama’s Ground Troops Tackle the Last Frontier, displayed a formidable pedigree in their heroic fight against racist attitudes which they saw as a threat to their economic wellbeing.

Door to Door

They went from door to door asking each and every potential voter to cast their vote for Obama. They faced a lot of resistance from the forces of reaction including the Honourable US Representative Mr. John Murther who came under vigorous fire for speaking openly about the racist attitudes of the Western part of Pennsylvania. Obama’s victory of Pennsylvania is a strong vindication of John Murther for sticking out his neck in his continuing efforts that ensured Obama’s victory in that coveted state.

John McCain regarded Pennsylvania as a do or die state and he poured all this resources into winning that. This must be a repulsive blow to him.

The leadership of the United Steel Workers Union must be very proud of themselves for a concerted effort and a strong ground organization which set out to accomplish Obama’s victory. It shows that the relevant message of non-racialism by powerful figures like Mr. Richard Trumka resonated with many in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania.

What Does This Mean for Race Relations?

It opens a new chapter in the genesis of a post-racial society where ethnic or racial affiliation diminishes as a relevant factor. Persons under a post-racial society become humans with common interests in the struggle for the continuity, success and adaptation of all humankind.

How does one begin to talk about race in a post-racial soceity? How do we legitmately engage notions of race, affirmative action policies, etc in a society "void of race"?

Affirmative action is a function of racial injustice. In a post-racial society, affirmative action would cease to exist. The narrative around race would also change to reflect the new political dispensation. just as people talk about culture as an object of festive celebration, the premise of any discussion around race in a post-racial soceity will take a non-confrontational tone and overtime people will loosen up to regard it as St. Patrick Day or something along those lines where the Irish and non-Irish are more than happy to be part of.

The interesting thing is that we lived in this kind of society before until the 1600s when an economy based on racial slavery was introduced as my recent article The White Establishment demonstrates.
